A former police chief and convicted killer known as the “Devil in the Ozarks” has been captured after he escaped from prison, triggering a massive, nearly two-weeks-long manhunt in the mountains of northern Arkansas.

Grant Hardin, 56, walked out of the North Central Unit on May 25 after authorities say he disguised himself in a "makeshift" law enforcement uniform.

Grant Hardin, who served in the top police job in Gateway, Arkansas, was found in Izard County, about a mile and a half from the facility he escaped on May 25, the Arkansas Department of Corrections said. His identity was confirmed by fingerprint analysis.
