A bystander was shot and wounded inside the Waterfront Metro station in Southwest Washington on Tuesday night during a robbery attempt, according to a Metro spokeswoman. The woman, who was an accidental victim, was taken to a hospital with what appeared to be injuries that were not life-threatening, the spokeswoman said.

WASHINGTON — The Waterfront Metro station in Southwest D.C. was evacuated and closed Tuesday night after a woman was shot, according to Metro Transit Police. Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department responded to the shooting after a call came in at 9:08 p.m. All Green Line trains were ordered to bypass the station, located at 399 M St. SW.
