She gets the job done on her second match point and immediatelly falls to the ground and bursts into tears. The 21-year-old is entirely deserving of the title, having beaten her higher-ranked opponent over three sets.

They just met at the Italian Open final before the French Open, where the Spaniard got the better of the world No. 1. They've had dramatic matches in the past at slams, most notably the 2022 U.S. Open quarterfinal that ended in the wee hours of the morning.

Coco Gauff, the No. 2 seed, became the first American woman to win the French Open singles title since Serena Williams in 2015.
