Sathish knew that Sathya took the train from Mount to go to her college between 11:30 am and 12:00 pm and waited on October 10 and 11, but she didn’t come on those days.

Sathish, who was 26 at the time of the murder, was also sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for three years for harassing the victim, M Sathya. A combined fine of Rs 35,000 was also imposed on him.

Sathya was relentlessly stalked by D Sathish, now 33, a school dropout. Both their families lived at police quarters in Alandur. After her engagement in Sept 2022, his harassment escalated.
