Brush fire west of New Smyrna Beach grows to over 300 acres, as crews work to contain flamesA 300-plus-acre brush fire in Volusia County, west of New Smyrna Beach near Samsula, is spreading, prompting a travel advisory.
The “Honeydew Fire” near Samsula had reached 75 acres in size as of 4 p.m., south of State Road 44 near South Cucumber and Honeydew Lanes, according to a post in the association's Facebook page.
