According to the Associated Press, another death was reported in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas, located near the U.S.-Mexico border — bringing the death toll up to at least four. The extreme rainfall also pummeled parts of northeastern Mexico, with the region seeing between 7 and 12 inches of rain, according to AP.

A large part of South Texas is reeling from life-threatening flooding that began overnight and continued into Friday morning. Thunderstorms began Wednesday, with another round of heavy rainfall on Thursday afternoon and evening.
