Suspended Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez, jailed Thursday on racketeering charges, must post a $1 million bond if he wants to be free while awaiting trial on charges he allegedly helped run a clandestine casino before and during his time as sheriff, a judge said Friday.

Communities across central Florida – both on the streets and social media – have been reacting to the news of suspended Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez’s arrest.

A clandestine casino generated more than $21.6 million in revenue and up to $700,000 for Marcos Lopez, investigators said Friday.

Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez was arrested Thursday morning. Multiple law enforcement sources confirmed with Action News Jax’s Orlando station WFTV that Lopez’s arrest is related to conspiracy to commit racketeering charges. WFTV has learned that Lopez’s arrest comes after an extended investigation by federal and state law enforcement.
