A New Year’s Day terrorist attack killed 14 people, rattled the city and prompted government officials to enhance the security precautions for the upcoming events.

The buzz of the Big Easy was alive on Monday night, as the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles kicked off Super Bowl LIX festivities. So too was the presence of law enforcement, with hundreds of National Guard troops flooding the downtown area alongside local police in an unprecedented security team-up for the NFL's momentous week.

Approximately 2,000 law enforcement officers will be present for the Super Bowl, New Orleans Police Department Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick told reporters Wednesday. No vehicle traffic will be allowed on the Bourbon Street, and the city will block intersections leading to the most popular areas, Kirkpatrick said.

Stay Visible and Alert: Stick to well-lit, populated areas. Avoid walking alone, and stay aware of your surroundings to deter potential criminals. Safeguard Your Belongings: Avoid displaying cash or expensive jewelry. Keep valuables in your front pockets, and secure purses or wallets to reduce the risk of theft.

A helicopter outfitted with radiological detection equipment has been making low-altitude flights over New Orleans and surrounding areas since Sunday in advance of Super Bowl LIX.
