Gaines County, the epicenter of the massive Texas measles outbreak that began in January, no longer has ongoing measles transmission, public health officials said on Tuesday. The Department of State Health Services released its weekly measles update,

Texas health officials on Tuesday said the county at the center of the state's measles outbreak is no longer classified as an outbreak county.

The U.S. is having its worst year for measles spread since 1991, with a total of 1,288 cases nationally and another six months to go. But in Gaines County, Texas, which was once the nation’s epicenter for measles activity, health officials said they are no longer seeing ongoing measles transmission.
