The Chicago White Sox defeated the Detroit Tigers 3-2 in 10 innings Thursday on Tim Elko’s walk-off single, earning a split in the 4-game series.

The 28-year-old eventually gave up two runs, and although the Tigers clawed back, the White Sox stole the show in the 10th inning. The Tigers lost, 3-2, in the finale of the four-game series at Rate Field, settling for a split. In the bottom of the 10th, Tim Elko hit a walk-off single off right-handed reliever Beau Brieske.

The White Sox continue to look for ways to improve the pitching staff amid recent injuries. The latest example came Sunday, as they signed left-handed pitcher Tyler Alexander to a one-year, $760,000 deal.
