Three Stanley Cups, three Lady Byngs, and a spot in the Hockey Hall of Fame: Fort William's Alex Delvecchio is being remembered for his on-ice skill, and off-ice kindness.

Delvecchio was a Stanley Cup champion in 1952, 1954 and 1955, and three times was voted winner of the Lady Byng Trophy (1959, 1966, 1969), awarded to the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability.

Detroit Red Wings legend Alex Delvecchio died on Tuesday, July 1, at 93 years old. The Hall-of-Famer played all 24 of his NHL seasons (1950-74) with the Red Wings, playing in 1,550 games, winning three Stanley Cups and three Lady Byng Memorial Trophies during his career.
