A HISTORIC English seaside hotel has closed for a £20 million renovation to become a “landmark” destination resort.

Award-winning chef and restaurateur Adam Handling MBE has confirmed that Ugly Butterfly 2.0 will open on schedule on July 9.

The Hotel Victoria had been a landmark of East Street in Newquay since 1899 when it suddenly closed its doors, alongside an adjoining nightclub, in November 2024.
