A 48-year-old woman from Jharkhand's Ranchi developed acute kidney failure after consuming raw fish gallbladder on the recommendation of a quack to cure diabetes.
The fish studied as a part of the research was Rohu (Labeo rohita). Fish liver, kidney and meat were analysed for heavy metal content, particularly that of zinc, lead, cadmium and mercury.
