The Connecticut Sun have emerged as the early front-runners to land Phoenix Mercury star Brittney Griner in WNBA free agency.

For the first time since she was drafted No. 1 overall by the Phoenix Mercury in 2013, Brittney Griner will explore free agency this WNBA offseason, her agent reported on Tuesday via ESPN. Multiple teams are expected to speak with Griner starting on Tuesday,

She's taking meetings with multiple teams in Miami, where she debuted with her offseason team Phantom BC on Saturday during the Unrivaled league's opening weekend. Griner has spent her entire WNBA career with Phoenix after being drafted by the Mercury in 2013.

Brittney Griner, who has always re-signed with the Mercury since she was drafted in 2013, will test the WNBA's free agent market for the first time.
