The gesture, part of India's Operation Sindhu, underscores the robust and enduring partnership between the two nations, as the Foreign Ministry of Sri Lanka stated in a post on X on Saturday.

India launched Operation Sindhu to evacuate its nationals from West Asia and, at the request of Sri Lankan and Nepali governments, will also assist in evacuating their citizens.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that India, so far have evacuated 3,426 Indian nationals from Iran and 818 Indian nationals from Israel in Operation Sindhu.

India launched Operation Sindhu to evacuate Indian nationals stranded in Iran and Israel amid the growing conflict. Under this operation, around 1,713 Indians have been evacuated from Iran.
