Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton wants to transfer the city’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion officer to a position in the division of human resources.

Hignite was initially charged with assault, but charges were later upgraded to murder. She was ultimately convicted of the lesser charge of manslaughter, along with wanton neglect.
