Google Maps updated its map Monday to show the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America for users in the United States. The change came after the name was updated in the Geographic Names Information System database, which Google Maps previously said it follows for naming conventions in the U.S.

Google said people using Maps in the US will see "Gulf of America," people in Mexico will see "Gulf of Mexico," and everyone else will see both names.

Google Maps has renamed the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America following an order from President Donald Trump.
