Texas deputies uncovered an alleged human smuggling operation this week that used hay bales to hide migrants. A dozen migrants were found inside.

Officials said a Fayette County deputy stopped a white Ford F-250 towing hay bales Tuesday around 12:50 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 10 near Flatonia, roughly 70 miles east of Austin.

Two suspects were arrested after deputies discovered at least 12 immigrants concealed in hay bales during a traffic stop, according to the Fayette County Sheriff‘s Office.

The bales are an eighth of the hay Lawrence needs to feed his 100 cows through the winter. He and his wife Alexis worked all summer to grow it and stayed up late harvesting it -- just the two of them.
