Wisconsin and the Big Ten said they have "credible information" that the University of Miami tampered with Xavier Lucas ahead of the defensive back's expected transfer.

News of his move came on Friday. Yahoo’s Ross Dellenger was the first to report that Lucas was leaving for Miami without officially entering the transfer portal. Wisconsin had held the standout freshman cornerback out of the portal after he “signed a two-year revenue-share agreement” in early December, per Dellenger.

In a potentially precedent-setting confrontation, a college football player is transferring even though his former school declined to enter his name into the portal.

At the center of the controversy is the fact that Lucas and Wisconsin entered into a binding two-year NIL agreement back in December of 2024 that included "substantial financial compensation. He also entered an additional agreement with the Varsity Collective as well.

Wisconsin is not taking the news of Xavier Lucas's transfer to Miami quietly, claiming the program has evidence of tampering by Miami.
