Sean Baker edits, directs and writes most of his films and has also served as producer and cinematographer for some. Wearing all of these hats paid off and led him to make history at the 2025 Oscars.
However, Baker won all of his Oscars for one film, while Walt Disney won them for four different movies. Disney’s The Living Desert won Best Documentary Feature, The Alaskan Eskimo won for Best Documentary – Short Subject, Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom won for Best Short Subject – Cartoon and Bear Country won for Best Short Subject – Two-Reel.

Baker and Disney are the only individuals to win four Oscars in one ceremony. For “Anora” on Sunday night, Baker won Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Film Editing. He’s the third director to win the editing award and the first as a solo editor.
By winning the Oscars for director, original screenplay, film editing and best picture (as a producer), he tied the record for most Oscars won by an individual in one year.
