Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed the Russian figure skaters were on board the crashed American Airlines plane.

A pair of World Champion Russian figure skaters were aboard an American Airlines flight returning from a development camp that followed the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Wichita, according to published reports.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed on Thursday there were Russian nationals on board the American Airlines flight which collided with a US Army helicopter near Washington DC.

According to the FAA, an Army Black Hawk helicopter collided into a 60-passenger flight landing at DCA midair.
