The New Orleans Saints signed free agent running back Cam Akers to a one-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed in the team announcement on Friday for Akers, who participated in the Saints' minicamp on a tryout basis.

Akers, who spent half of the 2024 season as the Texans ' No. 2 runner, agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the New Orleans Saints Friday afternoon. He will join the franchise as a backup to Alvin Kamara, along with returning secondary option Kendre Miller and rookie Devin Neal.

The Saints add another young veteran to it’s running back room, Cam Akers. New Orleans hosted Akers to try out during the mandatory minicamp period. Akers is a Super Bowl champion, winning a championship with the Los Angeles Rams in 2022,
