Columbia University students are stepping into a new campus environment Monday after their university announced sweeping policy changes while they were away on spring break, seemingly bowing to the Trump administration’s demands over the release of $400 million in federal funding to the school.

Students at Columbia University returned to class Monday, for the first time since the institution gave in to the Trump administration's demands to restore hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funding.

Columbia University students have returned to campus shortly after the Ivy League school agreed to a host of policy changes. The directives came from the Trump administration, which pulled $400 million in research grants following the university’s response to alleged antisemitic protests on campus in 2024.

Weiss, 42, was charged on March 20​ with 14 counts of unauthorized access to computers and 10 counts of aggravated identity theft. The lawsuit was filed in federal court on March 21.
