Parts of Britain are likely to be blasted by heavy thunderstorms today as the Met Office has warned of “danger to life” in some areas in the country. According to the Met Office, 100 places in the country may face flooding and travel disruption as 80mm (3.1 inches) of rain is expected to fall in just a few hours.

An amber weather warning for severe thunderstorms has been issued by the Met Office advising of the risk of “intense rainfall frequent lightning, hail and gusty winds”. The warning has been issued for parts of East Anglia and eastern parts of East Sussex and Kent to last between 8pm on Friday until 5am on Saturday.
