Lawmakers and the public will gather at the Minnesota State Capitol Wednesday night to honor Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark, who were fatally shot over the weekend in what authorities called a political assassination.

The family of Melissa and Mark Hortman, who were killed by a gunman in their home over the weekend, has gathered at the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office in Minnetonka to oversee the formal procession for the Hortmans.

Days after authorities say a gunman posing as a police officer fatally shot their parents and wounded two others, the children of Democratic Minnesota State Rep. Melissa Hortman, are speaking out about their loss.
