Toshiro Mifune died of multiple organ failure in 1997 at the age of 77, but the impenetrable barrier of death hasn’t stopped Capcom from digitally skinning the legendary actor’s likeness for Onimusha: Way of the Sword.

Miyamoto Musashi has been confirmed as a protagonist in Way of the Sword, and Capcom licensed legendary actor Toshiro Mifune's face to portray him.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword shows off its gameplay and protagonist as the series makes a full-force comeback aimed at picking up core and new fans.

At last night's PlayStation State of Play event, Capcom gave us a bigger look at Onimusha: Way of the Sword and its main protagonist. The lead character is none other than Miyamoto Musashi, one of Japanese history's most legendary swordsman, and in Onimusha his likeness is provided by a similarly legendary actor.

Capcom has shown off new gameplay of its upcoming 2026 action game, Onimusha: Way of the Sword. More than that, we finally know who's leading the next Onimusha and it's none other than historic swordsman Miyamoto Musashi.

Capcom has revealed that the protagonist in its upcoming Onimusha reboot will be played by an actor who died 28 years ago. During the latest PlayStation State of Play presentation on Wednesday, Capcom showed a new trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, the next main entry in the series.
