Andrew Abbott pitched seven innings of shutout ball a day after being named an All-Star, Elly De La Cruz hit a pair of RBI doubles and the Cincinnati Reds beat the Marlins 7-2, snapping Miami’s franchise-record 11-game road winning streak.
Two days after being an All-Star snub, Reds starting pitcher Andrew Abbott received All-Star hugs from teammates on Tuesday evening. The kudos came after Abbott learned he was added to the National League All-Star team roster as a replacement for Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
They bounced back again Wedneday night, snapping a four-game losing streak in a 7-2 win over the Miami Marlins. More importantly, the Reds are back over .500 at 47-46. All-Star left-hander and Reds ace Andrew Abbott pitched a gem, and the Reds lineup picked themselves up after a dreadful previous four games.
It's Wednesday, July 9 and the Marlins (42-48) are in Cincinnati to take on the Reds (46-46). Sandy Alcantara is slated to take the mound for Miami against Andrew Abbott for Cincinnati. Miami took game 2 of this four-game series,
