The company says it's the first all-woman flight since the Soviet Union's Valentina Tereshkova’s solo spaceflight in 1963.

Blue Origin has flown tourists on short hops to space since 2021. Some passengers have gotten free rides, while others have paid a hefty sum to experience weightlessness. It was not immediately known who's footing the bill for this upcoming flight.

Blue Origin is launching an all-female crew into space that will include singer Katy Perry and morning news anchor Gayle King. The six women will get a 10-minute ride to space and back this spring. Their New Shepard rocket will depart from West Texas.
