We even measure the level of the River Nile to see how much flooding we can expect. We have three seasons: Akhet, the flooding season, Peret, the growing season and Shemu, the harvesting season.

During the Akhet season, Ethiopia received heavy rainfall during the summer months that resulted in the flooding of the Nile, and the fertile lands used to get covered in about two meters of water.
