Entering his age-40 season, Scherzer was never going to get more than a year, and his $15.5 million salary is right in line with Justin Verlander, Alex Cobb, Charlie Morton and other veteran arms who've signed this winter. After an offseason filled with missing out on the biggest names, the Toronto Blue Jays have come to terms with pitcher Max Scherzer. The two sides have agreed to a contract per the NY Post’s Jon Heyman. It’s a one-year deal worth $15.5 million per ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

Carlos Estevez, who had been connected to the Toronto Blue Jays earlier this offseason, has signed on with the Kansas City Royals. It's a two-year deal.

Scherzer is obviously a legend in the game and a future Hall of Famer. He debuted back in 2008, has almost 3,000 innings in the majors with a 3.16 earned run average, three Cy Young trophies, eight All-Star selections and two World Series rings.
