The National Football League Scouting Combine is now over and we are a week away from free agency. What is really interesting about how mock drafts have viewed the Minnesota Vikings before free agency is the different selections they have had.

In this scenario, using PFF's mock draft simulator, all of my ideal defensive targets — DTs Walter Nolen, Kenneth Grant, and Derrick Harmon, plus CB Jahdae Barron — were off the board. So without the option of moving down, my choice came down to a pair of offensive linemen: Alabama's Tyler Booker and North Dakota State's Grey Zabel.

The Minnesota Vikings don’t wind up with Jordan Addison in this re-draft, as he goes two picks ahead of them to the Los Angeles Chargers at pick 21. With the other top wideouts off the board, the Vikings select defensive tackle Calijah Kancey.

The National Football League Scouting Combine is a very important event in the NFL Draft process. It's not just about the measurements and the athletic testing, what goes on behind the scenes is arguably just as important.

What might that look like? A recent mock draft from PFF's Dalton Wasserman provides one example. In that mock, the Vikings trade the 24th pick to the Patriots for their second-round pick (No. 38) and third-round pick (No. 77). New England comes up to get an offensive tackle, while the Vikings turn one pick into two slightly less valuable ones.
