A new play and a short film festival both pay homage to the daring writer Anaïs Nin, nearly 50 years after her death.

The exhibition, ANAÏS NIN: Celebrating a Renegade at The Georgian Hotel Santa Monica runs through March 22nd.

The Marsh San Francisco will present a provocative and passionate journey into the world of Anaïs Nin in Shameless Hussy, the world premiere of Lynne Kaufman’s newest play.

Herron's introduction to the collection deftly places Nin's career in perspective while explaining the provenance and significance of the two rediscovered stories. The works themselves are delightful.

The losses include a plaque honoring writer Anaïs Nin and one marking the spot where the short-lived rock venue the Fillmore East hosted legendary acts including Jimi Hendrix and the Who.
