President Donald Trump says Wednesday will be “Liberation Day” — a moment when he plans to roll out a set of tariffs that he promises will free the United States from foreign goods.

In practice there will be nothing liberating about it. Over the two months since returning to the White House, Mr Trump will have brought America’s overall tariff level to its highest since the second world war, setting the country up for slower economic growth, higher inflation, more inequality and, quite possibly, fiscal trouble.

Supporters of Donald Trump have proposed changing the Constitution to allow him to seek a third term in the White House -- during an interview on Sunday, Trump did not rule out the possibility.

"There are methods which you could do it," Trump said, despite the Constitution limiting presidents to two terms.
