Attention is focused on Indian cricket icons Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as the second phase of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 approaches.

After the reports of uncertainty over Virat Kohli’s participation in the upcoming second round of Ranji Trophy, India skipper Rohit Sharma too has not yet confirmed his availability for the India’s premier domestic tournament.

Rohit scored only 31 runs in five innings in a disastrous tour of Australia, seeing him drop himself for the fifth Test in Sydney. India lost the series 3-1, and Rohit's future in the longest format of the game is up in the air.

India Test wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant and opener Yashasvi Jaiswal had confirmed their availability to play in the next round of the Ranji Trophy on Tuesday.

After the debacle of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and evidently struggling for runs, form and confidence, senior India batter Rohit Sharma sweated it out with the Mumbai Ranji Trophy team at their practise session at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday.

It was reported on Monday that Rohit had approached the head coach Omkar Salavi and made "inquiries about when they are going to train for the next Ranji match, which is still 10 days away," a Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) official told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal on Wednesday joined the Mumbai camp after confirming his availability for the next round of Ranji Trophy but skipper Rohit Sharma was not to be seen after turning up for a couple of practice on the opening day of training.

Rishabh Pant is likely to lead Delhi Cricket team in the Ranji Trophy match against Saurashtra. He has confirmed his availability for the fixture. Virat Kohli hasn't yet confirmed whether he will play the fixture or not.
