Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla was named the Eastern Conference Coach of the Month in March, the NBA announced Tuesday afternoon. Oklahoma City Thunder head coach and Massachusetts native Mark Daigneault was named the top coach in the West.

Xavier Tillman has spent most of this season buried on the Celtics’ bench. But on Monday night, he was in the starting lineup, replacing an injured Jaylen Brown in Boston’s 117-103 win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

Mazzulla took over the team's head coaching job for the 2022-23 season after Ime Udoka, his predecessor, was suspended for violating team policies. In his first season at the helm of the Celtics, he guided them to the brink of a second straight NBA Finals appearance, which paved the way for what they did afterward.
