We were just there. I was disappointed. We took a hop on/ hop off bus that took you to about 7 different stops. White sands beach was one. The bus was $20 pp ( we are a family if 4). There was no white sand there at all. The sand was black and the beach was covered in rocks. We didnt bring water shoes, we were expecting a nice beach. Lots of little crabs hide in the rocks. My kids were too nervous to even go in the water. Yes, they had washrooms, but very dirty. I was not impressed. Waste of $80.
How busy would I expect White Sand beach or Kona to be in mid May? I am not wanting to go to Hawaii during the peak busy times and it seems May may be a fairly good time. Please advise, thanks!
