Is the museum open on Thanksgiving Day? If so, is it crowded?

Thank you all for your feedback. I had the impression that it usually wasn't crowded but you never know how a holiday might change things.

A:
At least an hour but probably 2. It isn’t huge but it is bigger than it seems from outside.

are there lines in the entrance on the mornings usually? and can I bring food in my backpack and just leave it at the entrance?

We went on a weekend morning, and the lines were not that crowded. You should check with the museum's web site to see what any arrangements are for storage lockers for larger items.
