Jaynagar Majilpur is a city and a municipality of South 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. The city is famous for its confectionery called Jaynagarer Moa. Jaynagar is an ancient settlement. The name of Jaynagar comes from the name of the local goddess Joychandi, from which the city derived the name, Joychanditala. Over time it became Joychandinagar and then Joynagar or Jaynagar.
