Hi, Yes, they have the cars for hire. There are a few located to the Parque José Marti for hire. If, you are on a cruise, some will be waiting just outside the terminal gate. Prices will be a bit higher at this location. Overall, it is great value. I recommend a friendly negotiation. The cars are much more limited and the restorations are more basic here. Best, Michael

The rules of business hours are very similar ours in Canada. All stores are open until 5 or 6 pm 6 days per week. Some stores and offices are closed on Sunday, but many stay open for visitors. Govt offices and banks are closed on the weekends. But there are ATM machines at two of the centrally located banks. I like the ones at Banco de Crédito y Comercio (BANDEC) on De Clouet (Calle 31 y Ave 60) just a block from the park. They are seldom busy, not well known, allow draws of $150 CUC per transaction on Canadian debit/credit. Banco Popular de Ahorro (BPA) on the Boulevard also has ATMs but are super busy, so long lines and often no cash. Think of the park as tourist central. Bars, restaurants, music venues, discos are open anywhere from 9pm to 2am. Cienfuegos is a sleepy town. It’s very quiet after 8 pm. except for designated entertainers nment areas all over the city. There is a lot to do and see on Sunday.
We are coming in by cruise ship to spend the morning in Cienfuegos. We can be on our own for the half day so I'm looking for what will provide us the best walking tour of the town. In doing some research, it seems the best drop off is the Plaza de Armas which allows for easy walking to the Catedral, Plaza Jose Marti, Teatro Terry, Museo Provincial and observing regular Cuban life. I would like some ideas about how to best spend the morning - are these the places to see......?

This was one of my favorite places in Cuba. The Plaza is where the locals and the tourists gather. There are lots of benches to sit on and people watch. It is surrounded by beautiful and historic buildings and museums. You can get a snack from street venders or go to one of the nearby eateries. I prefer a relaxing view of a city when I visit, but if you want to see a tiny bit of a lot of things, hire a guide and rush around for a few hours.
